I have a cancelled ‘Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm’ stamp that my brother pulled off a letter that came to Fenway for (now) former Red Sox center fielder Lee Tinsley. He asked if he could have it and bring it home for his little sister.
That stamp helped spur my short lived stamp collection that still sits in a box in my parents’ house. That book Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm was cute, if I remember correctly, but always seemed to be just another version of Pollyanna and Anne of Green Gables. Stories like that I guess were wildly popular in their time, otherwise there wouldn’t be so many of them…. like Marian Keyes novels.
