Animated Shorts of the Day: Wes Anderson’s critically acclaimed film Moonrise Kingdom is slowly making its way into theaters across America, and for those lucky enough to have seen it already, the experience continues online. Anderson has released a series of animated shorts as a companion to the film, each representing a story contained in the library books Suzy stole before setting off on her adventure with Sam. The shorts, which were originally intended to be in the movie, are narrated by Bob Balaban, who also narrated the film.
Fantastic! I was wildly distracted by the stories Suzy was reading, hoping to recognize the lines or the covers, but of course they were original works, their own worlds.
Olympia Le-Tan turned Shelley and the Secret Universe into one of her signature clutches, which Kara Hayward (Suzy) carried at the Cannes Film Festival.
I am very excited for Moonrise Kingdom. In part because it looks fantastic and in part because part of it was filmed down the road from where I used to live. And I am very excited to see my neighborhood in a movie. How boss is that?
